‘Women in workforce could boost economic growth by $180bn a year’, Sue Dunlevy, The Australian, 14/9/11

"JULIA Gillard has declared that boosting female workforce participation could increase economic growth by $180 billion a year and be worth more to the Australian economy than the whole mining industry.

Declaring an intention to have 50 per cent female representation in state, federal and local governments, the nation's first woman Prime Minister last night lashed business for its "unacceptable" level of female managers.

Ms Gillard said just 60 per cent of women were working and Australia ranking 44th in the world for female workforce participation ..."
